Hello there! My name is Charlotte and, as you’ve taken the time to visit my little bookish corner, it seems only fitting to share a few facts about me.

My all-time favourite book series is Harry Potter. I don’t think anything will ever beat this series to that trophy. Following on from that, my favourite book in the series is without a doubt Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Again, I don’t think that is likely to ever change. My Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff and I am very proud of that fact.

My favourite books to read are children’s Fiction and Young Adult fiction (with a splash of magic or fairytale thrown in for good measure).

The best book signing I’ve attended to date was for The Gender Games by Juno Dawson. She was hilarious, insightful and educational. Oh, and she knew who I was!

I read because it makes me feel alive. It gives me the opportunity to escape and enter someone else’s shoes to explore an entirely different world to my own, even ones that I regrettably can’t visit. Whenever I hit a rough patch, books are there for me and when I return to battered loved ones, the characters greet me and offer to take me on a familiar adventure. It continues to baffle me how a combination of  letters, ink and paper can cause an individual to feel so much, it’s something I can only hope to achieve at some point in the future.

I started this blog because, while I have many book lovers in my life, I didn’t really have anyone who was willing to talk for hours on end about books; even if they’ve already been discussed a million times before. Charlottereadsthings became a special place for me to share my loves for books and champion those I believe should be talked about more. Through doing this, I have found a wonderful online community and made some wonderful bookish friends along the way; some of which may talk about books even more than I do!

Whether you’re a long time follower of me, or you’ve just turned up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to stop by.

– Charlotte
